Goodonya Paul, We shall wave goodbye to this lovely scope with tears in our eyes.

Looking at eta carina through this beauty caused me to sell my 10" and buy an SDM of my own!

Yes, I understand completely. The first time I looked through one of these monsters was Peter's own when he started up SDM and brought it to the ASV dark sky site at Heathcote. It blew me away, I couldnt believe the views and kept coming back for another look late into the night and on to morning. Peter's craftmanship is outstanding and they move so smoothly. I also got to look through a 28 or 30 up at Ilford made by Peter and the quality was consistant.
The funny thing though?
I live in an apartment LOL
I have no idea yet what I am going to do with regard to that, dont have a tow bar either so I have to get one fitted in the next week LOL
I have only just bought a brand new CGEM 1100 scope and SBIG camera a few weeks ago, someone is going to get a discounted bargain.
Not hard to tell my priorities

Congrats Paul,

That will be one lovely scope. I have seen countless US built dobs and Peter's scopes are as good as anything I have seen.

The 14" SDM I have with Zambuto mirror, is about as good as a medium aperture telescope gets. We have in our 3RF arsenal a 30" SDM (which was Peter's original scope, now rebuilt) and 2 x 25" Obsessions and I just love that extra horsepower the big scopes offer on the faint fuzzies.

Cheers,
John B

I too have fond memories of the views through Bill's scope.
It will be sorely missed at Astrofest.

Hey Paul ,

Thanks for all your comments. I know William will miss it and I will certainly give it the love it deserves.
Tow bar fitting is booked for next week. Freight company is organised, $2010.00!!!!!!
Jeez!
I pondered driving over and picking it up. The road trip back would be awesome. I did the Nullabor with CGE1400 a few years ago and that was fun. I put on a sky for the night at every caravan park along the way (LOL).
Cost and time constraints too hard sadly.
