have a look at this excerpt from a list prepared by an American observer who was going on an observing/camping trip.

Ice Box Suit
Winter Boots
Winter Coat
Balaclava
Finger-tip-less gloves
Heavy Gloves
Hand Warmers

can you pick which item made me laugh?

I'll guess 'Ice Box Suit'. I think you'd call it something else. ;)

BTW I notice in the photo on his site that he is using a Eureka Timberline tent. In one 12 month period I slept in one of them for 11 months and would have slept in it for >2yrs. Great little tent.

i really cracked up
not heard the term "ice box" since i was a kid

i had to stop and think what an "ice box suit" was - then the laughter came when i realised

i have bookmarked the link - handy little check list that can be tailored to your own needs i think

there is a word and pdf download of it on the link from memory

On the full list 'This Checklist' Very important when it comes time to pack to come home. I've done this myself. It just looks funny on the list. :lol:

the "jelly" got me for a bit too - till i remembered the translation is "jam"

and i seem to remember in the old days we called them "ice chests" not "ice boxes"

so i must be a purveyor of "ice chest suits" - ya gotta laugh
