Hi
My Canon 400D DSLR has a problem that when it is first switched on either
on battery or powerpack supply it always give an Error message which states " Err99 - Shooting is not possible. Turn the power switch to OFF or ON again or re-install the battery."
Switching OFF then ON does not clear the fault but disconnecting the battery by releasing and shutting the battery lid momentarily always clears the fault and then camera use proceeds without problems.
Not a serious fault but more of an annoyance. Does anyone have an idea what may be wrong?
Cheers Peter

Yes Peter it is not uncommon, it is relation to the lens contacts, from what i can remember, i think the camera is not recognizing the lens contacts, or something to do with cleaning the contacts.

Check this out.

Yep.
Usually means the the little gold contacts on the body and/or lens are a bit dirty.
Sometimes shows up on battery contacts too.
Just give em a scrub with a dry toothbrush or a paper towel damped with Alcohol.
