i have a 8" newt & need to move the mirror up the box so i can binoview without the optical corrector.
the collimation screws are already thumbscrews so i can adjust without tools - i can purchase longer normal bolts but this would necessitate i took a tool with me..
..does anyone know where i can get screw on extensions -that way i can keep the original bolts & just add length.(would prefer Melb area) i need about 50mm long - as i already monoview with a 50mm ext tube

H Dannat,

When I need knobs like this I buy a (female) tri-wheel knob from bunnings. I think 1/4 inch is their smallest. Then I epoxy some allthread into the knob.

You could probably get smaller knobs from smallparts.com and do the same thing.

Daniel, get as thick a nut as you can for the thread. Screw your collimation bolt half in, add a new length of thread screwed in the otherside of the bolt and twist them tightly against each other. Hopefully a couple of threads each side will do and the nut will fit inside the new spring you will have to put in place?
