Just saw this size comparison on a post in cloudynights of an 8" vs 12" GSO RC scope.
The new one (12") is big and I wonder just how big the 16" GSO RC will be when it comes out

That is how large my old 12.5inch RCOS was.

If you use one of those you will need a beefy mount and also some wind protection as light winds will most likely mean you can't image.

12 inches is serious aperture and you should be able to get some really nice images with that. Galaxies really start to pop, detail comes up in usual objects. An STL11 would be a good match. Guiding with a guidescope is no longer an option at this focal length.

An offaxis guider or self guiding is now a must.

Ooh yeah got that sorted.

Not necessarily an STL but that size sensor is what I was thinking. No point in using a slow USB and older system such as this.

Been using OAG for some time now and yes this is the way to go. Guide scopes just cause problems.:thumbsup:

Hope you do get a good one to review as Im quite interested in this as a scope for my observatory. Looking at the weight they state that a G11 should be able to handle it OK - it may be on its limits but just within its capabilities without a guidescope etc. Ill be very interested in a critical appraisal of the 12" .
