Noticed something odd on the back cover of AS&T this month, a few pages back there was also an ad for The Synscan tour. Has anyone seen one of these yet??.

Hmmmmm . . .

just what every Telescope needs:

"6) Bagua and Feng Shui
According to the theory of China's theories of Bagua, the machine is designed with the Bagua feng shui feature. Through your birthday, the five elements Bagua and your good or bad fortune numerology and location can be calculated to point out how you can stay out of trouble."

I wonder if that makes it an 'Astrological Telescope'?

Very strange advertisement for the product.
No Paul, I've never seen, nor heard of, this item.

Quite a strange device, and not particularly cheap either :)

The new Synscan Controller replaces the normal hand controller of all mounts including Orion and Celestron that use the SynScan System. It has many functions and takes control of the mount. It has over 58000 objects in its data base, it has text information and audio commentary and exquisite photos of deep space objects. It is suitable for both Eq. and Alt.Az Synscan operations. The LED Screen resembles most Apps on Mobile Phones and has a touch screen where you can touch on an object and the mount will slew to that object. It is like a cross between an iPod and a Blackberry. There are many other functions too numerous to mention but be careful when buying one as you will need to order the optional cable to suit you mount.
