It will be interesting to see where this goes ;)

If it doesn't exist then it doesn't exist. Getting facts is the most important part of science. Maybe the two scientists should team up, gather new data and get the actual facts instead of saying each other is wrong...

Im sure there will be other planets out there in the Goldilocks zone discovered before long.

Even if 581g does exist, we have no way of getting there to check it out anyhow, not for at least another 200 years or so. 20LYs is still 20LYs away, and would still take an extremely long time to get there. However it is a possible future stepping stone to the galaxy, lets just get to Mars first though.

Exoplanet iPhone software are very quick to pick up on this and have removed it from the database. Obviously if an issue changes they are quick to make the change.

It's nothing.....the problem with the Swiss team's data is their database on which they're basing their conclusions is smaller and over a shorter period of time than the data that Vogt's team made the discovery announcement from. It's a little like saying that Australia can't possibly have a population of 22 million because we can only see 5 million living in Sydney.

Rock solid (pardon the pun) confirmation will only come after more extensive observations...that's the only way.

I think there seems to be a lot of urgency in finding planets, not sure why so this I expect is where mistake come in. Maybe there is a funding issue.
