Was at Bunnings yesterday and found a Craft Right safe case.
The astronomical high price for this was $65.00
For this size it is very cheap with pluck foam and four latches.
Photo's below.
Bunnings should start paying us for all the free advertising

It might fit an EQ6. It doesn't fit a G11, and a Pelican case which does is about 8 times the price.

Hi All,

These are great cases but do be carefull when purchasing.

I found out that these cases and other similar ones with slightly different labels and latches all come from some large runs of defect batchs.

The units do not quite seal as advertised.

That being said, for the price they do seal, well enough to keep the general elements at bay and they are still good for shock resistant packing :).

Went to my local store ( Mt Waverley in Vic )
and they had a full pallet of em
( now minus one ):D

With only mm to spare.
Realistically, if you want to put an EQ6 in the case,
you would want to remove the Dovetail head section
or the lower part of the weight bar, just to get a little clearance.
Have attached a piccy of the fit

Just picked up two cases from the Claremont WA store.

Both were as advertised, seal well and sturdy latches. Two places for padlocks (one on each corner). Much better than average construction (I was not expecting much, thus am quite pleased).

The foam in the case top was not cut tight enough, so it tends to fall down as you open the case, double stick tape should do the trick there.

Damn my Midland store has none. Only the yellow case made by Kincrome. ( $85) not big enough to fit EQ6.
When I asked they had various responses. " umm yeah try over there" and " ask over at the tool shop" etc etc.... might try the weekday crew....

The price on the sign on the pallet was $90 each, but when scanned at the register were only $65 ...

Not bad quality for the price ...

Bugger!! Went to Bunnings today, look around and bought a padded case/box and got it home, but wrong one.

I picked one up today at Bunnings near Granville in Sydney. Its black and cost $65 at the check out. Weird as the shelf showed it as being more like $89.

Great value, as I bought a Pelican case a while back, which is very similar and it was more like $250 or more.

Guys I went to my local bunnings here in Perth and there were none on the shelf. After walking up and down a few isles I spotted them sitting on a crate at the top of one of the shelves. The bunnings folk wont get them down during the day but will over night if you request it. I bought two one for each of my vixen SXD mounts which fit perfectly including all counter weights, controller and cables. The only thing is the supplied foam is a little too soft for my purpose (fine for camera's, Ep's etc) so I will be replacing it with a heavier density foam very soon.

Good thing is the G11 Head fits pretty well in this case :)
No need to fork out for a Pelican Storm. $65 case woohoo
The azimuth knob sits out; but rests against the padding; and the lid closes with just enough pressure to keep everything tight. :)

Bunnings(Mentone) have zero stock, however Bunnings ( Moorabbin) have about 4 left,l picked mine up this arvo, for $65.I retained the top-inner lid foam, and bottom foam, and kept the other two pieces as spares.I removed the EQ6 PRO head from the tripod, and voila, it fits perfectly:),INCLUDING the x2 5kg counterweights, which l have to the right hand side.I cut some high density foam,to separate the counterweights from the head. The eyepiece tray/hand controller/2.5 amp/12V AC supply, l have in a separate box,for safe keeping. Now the EQ6 is stored away perfectly, after enjoying some rock-solid views of jupiter ,with my 7.1 inch Mak/casssegrain.Now its time to get out the 11 inch Schmidt Cassegrain:D

Never bought a Safe Case , still deciding so liking any feedback of Owners of large CraftRight Safe Case for construction reliability, e.g case no cracking , seal is waterproof, sealing knob or latchs or hinges or handle reliable , etc....

CRSC same or better quality from about couple years ago?

looked at dearer yellow kincrome Safe Cases, appear the same design but notice Handle hinge attachment different

looked today @ black SCA safe cases @ SuperCheapAuto. Advertised sizes 260x245x175 // 345x290x145-( measured inside without foam 303x233x140~) // 460X360X175 // Large-560X430X215-( measured inside without foam 508x355x205~)- 4 locking latches.
On special for 14.39 // 34.99 // 39.99 // Large-$55.99

concern have especially the Large cases handle design, if have weakness where after time could break off?

thankyou ,

If you want Pelican reliability and quality, buy a Pelican ;)

I have two of the old yellow Bunnings cases from years ago, and 3 of the newer black ones.
When I'm out shooting away from home, I use them as a seat all the time. I'm 6'5" and weigh ~100kg, so far no cracks.

Yeh, I've now got three. Great for keeping everything tidy and in the right place. I priced some foam inlays with a well know rubber store - it was dearer than buying the whole case with inlays from Bunnings (each case has three inlays). They are lightweight, solid and carry just about everything - including the NEQ6 mount (just!)
