Using the lessons learned with the Eta C image, here is M8 and M20.

11 x 60 sec subs - a master dark subtracted from each sub - software ISO noise reduction (do I need both?). Canon 1000D @ iso 800, WB daylight, ES80, Tak EM-200B - lots of light pollution.

Does it matter that only the luminance channel was denoised? Should the RGB channels be denoised also.
I can separate the two and work independently on each - not exactly sure how to put that to good effect?

When calibrating the RAW files, that is, setting the EV, exposure and green channel etc, should I adjust each image to the same luminance by adjusting the EV? Am I loosing signal if I reduce the EV of an image?

Lots of questions :P

mate - it simply comes down to length of time to gather the data. try to go a little longer on the subs - maybe 2 minutes and do a few hours worth. 11 minutes worth is just a tease. your focus looks good

I agree - squeezing lemons. One thought though. Averaging stacked images doesn't seem efficient. Are they better combined - a median result instead:question:

This one (http://www.synergous.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/IMG_3049.CR2b.jpeg) has some 0III subs 17 in all - no! 22.
