Took these a few nights ago. The picture attached is omega centauri 6x2 minute subs. Aligned and stacked manually in Picture Window (just trying it out...)
I can't work out though why there is some fringing around the brighter stars....it wasn't there in the M7 shot I took a few nights before. Would it be just down to focus?
Thanks for looking!

As this is the beginners section and that is a nice image, I'd be inclined to say, well done!

Thanks Rowland
It's the first one I have sat down and tried processing. There were no darks or flats or anything - just stacked light frames, then levels and saturation. I was surprised to see the red colours of some of the stars pop out....

I'd be very pleased with that result as a first try. It seems OK even without dark frames - but at this stage I would be pushed to tell the difference. I've noticed fringing with my 80mm too, when focus is slightly out - Bahtinov mask on the way - hope that's the solution.

On the full size image at 1:1 there are quite a few hot pixels that a dark should take care of, and I did struggle with the focus a bit. I have a Bahtinov mask, but my 10D doesn't have live view which makes it a bit harder to use - ended up just taking a few short exposures and stopping when it looked ok!
It was very cool to watch the noise disappearing with each additional frame stacked - something that you don't get to see when you use DSS, just the finished product.
I will try to take a few darks at a similar temperature and see how it looks after adding that to the mix...
