Hi
Last night I was imaging M83 which was in a position that caused my camera to hit my mount support. In this position the weights were facing east. However, as with equatorial mounts there is an alternate position with the weights facing west. Is there some way I can get the SynScan
mount controller to goto this alternative position? If not I could simply move the scope there and the mount would still track but in this case could I still use the object finding capability of the SynScan? (M83 is pretty hard to find in my light polluted sky).
Cheers Peter

If it's past the meridian (must be if the camera is hitting the tripod) goto a star close to your target ie Menkent for M83, centre that in your finder or camera, sync the mount to that star then goto your object. It should be almost spot on. The mount will sort itself out for east/west tracking.

Thanks Keith - I had been syncing on Spica but I will try Menkent as see what happens. Cheers Peter
