Hi everyone

Well I have decided to cut my teeth on a DSLR before I get into the heavy ccd range of cameras.

I have a small range of pentax film slr lens and a wide range of nikon film slr lens and teleconverters etc etc. So i am not to sure if one can use the old slr lens with the DSLRS both for pentax and nikon.

I was also wondering if anyone has used the nikon d5000 for astrophotography, and if so did it meet your needs and requirements?
Best regards Paul.

I'm assuming that the Kx is like the Km that I have in that the image stabilisation is in the body of the camera. I know that Canon's IS is in the actual lens and I'm thinking Nikon is similar although I may be wrong.

Because of this all old Pentax lenses should work on the Kx. The only thing you'd need to look at is Auto Focus.

I believe the Kx has two features that the Km is lacking - one is live view and the other is "click-on click-off" otpion when using the IR remote control for the bulb setting. I have to hold the button on my remote for the length of time that the exposure is happening.

Cheers,
Mario

to be really honest with you Paul, don't stuff around with a DSLR, you will go insane with the amount of noise they produce unless you start getting up in the range in canon terms 40d or even the 5d.

A small CCD that is cooled will make your life easy, and considering you can get the OSC versions now.

For the price you will pay for a decent DSLR, if your sure you want to get into it don't stuff round, just start off in the right field. Why would you learn to drive a semi trailer when you will be racing v8 supercars.?
