hello folks, While rummaging through some old stuff that was in the garage, I came upon an old table hockey set. Of course it was battered beyond reason but I've took the fan off and it was in good working condition. So. I wondered If I can change the plug into a battery power and attach it to my dob for cooling...
Any ideas on how I might to this??

Sorry, but if you are thinking of adding the fan in the picture, to your primary, and powering it off a battery, you will need to think again.

The fan that is shown in the picture requires an input voltage of 220-240 volts AC. It is not designed to (nor can it be made to without expensive converters $40-$60) work off battery power.

Batteries of the the type you probably are considering produce 12 Volts DC. The cost of converting this to something that would run the fan would outweigh the cost of buying a DC fan (from somewhere like JAYCAR Electronics) that is designed to run off DC power.

Best leave that fan to its resting place in your garage.

Regards

Scott

Ditto to Scott's comments. The cost of getting that fan to work from a battery would far exceed the cost of a 12V fan.

I agree with the two previous poster's, Find an old Computer and whip the fan out of that.
That's where mine came from:thumbsup:

just be careful when adding a fan though, the vibrations although they seem insignificant to you will degrade your image significantly. unless you can isolate the fan from the body some people have isolated it with elastic bands as the rubber will absorb the vibes.

good luck
