Hi all,

An E.S. Astroscan has come up for sale. I was wondering if anyone has had experience with it?

I'm aware it is a little bugger- 4" f/4, factory collimated. Good enough to merit getting it for the kids?

I think I saw the same one. I remember reading something about it on CloudyNights a few years ago and it got a good rap - nice views with plossls. Supposed to be nice and portable. I can't remember anything about collimation.

I had one when I was about 8. I remember it being a real treat.
No-one has anything bad to say about it, judged on its own merits.
It is what it is: a fun little instrument with not-disgraceful optics. You could pay a lot more and do a lot worse!

Hey, Peter,

By the look of your signature, you might be wanting that Astroscan now.

Thanks for your replies. The one I saw went for more than I was prepared to pay. Unfortunatly the seller has no idea on scopes, and his reply did not fill me with confidence that it's been well looked after.

Maybe another time.
