So where do I buy this in Australia?

It is recommended by several on Cloudy Nights as the ideal material to fill eyepiece undercuts!

I must try some.

I've been to one SuperCheap - no luck.

Ooooooooooh! That's the stuff, Dave.

OK, here's what they say on CN:-

================
I like this stuff because it's tough, thin, and sticks to itself well. You can dial in for the depth of the undercut with the right number of wraps, and the end is virtually invisible. It's easy to cut against a straight edge with a razor blade. It looks sort of metallic on the adhesive side, but it seems to be a polymer, something like Mylar with the fake carbon fiber pattern pressed in and color deposited on one side.

How much depends on the undercut depth, of course. Typically I think it takes about 5 wraps. For a 1.25" barrel I usually have some left over if I cut a 24 inch strip. The last time I did a 2" eyepiece I needed another wrap or two. I just try to have a long enough strip and examine and feel it as I go. Once it looks like it might be starting to get higher than the barrel, I peel back a little and cut there.
==================

Seems like 5 wraps of a 1.25" barrel and 7 wraps of a 2" barrel.

That suggests narrow (width of undercut) strips which are 0.5m long for 1.25" barrels and 1.12m long for 2" barrels. :eyepop:

I think your thread said that you have sheets. Looks like roll would be better. Sounds like a new roll is about 2m long.

I will pull it out and have a look. I bought a small roll.

I got it some years ago from a sign supply place in Braeside (I think) I will try to find the invoice. It was expensive from memory.

"Trimbrite"? I found only one item?

Dave is getting a sample to me so I can see if it works. Thanks, Mate! :thumbsup:

Thanks to Dave's kindness, I had enough to do three 2" eyepieces. Generally it was worked well, but you have to get the width right and the number of turns. The 35mm eyepiece was perfect first go. The other two needed bit of adjustment to stop some residual catching.

Go to Autobarn, it's ~$36 for a 5 metre roll.

I bought some about 4 months ago.
