Hi all,

When doing long exposure stuff with a stock standard DLSR with
a Ha filter screwed on the front, do I need to put the White balance
off of auto? IE , will it try and compensate because of the lack of
signal in anything other than the red?

Sounds silly, but I thought I'd ask anyway:rolleyes:

I'm trying some Ha stuff with the std 18-55mm lens tonight.
Settings are : 10 min subs @ f6.8 ISO 800
Widefield stuff mainly around Crux....cloud everywhere else! :)
Piggybacked on the GEM
Suggestions welcome

cheers,

Edit: beaten by clouds again in Adelaide...another night.

Steve,

I've always left mine on auto. Others will tear shreds into me but it has worked for me.

What a lot of people suggest is setting it to daylight.

thanks Humayun,

I'm about to give it away for the night. I'll try that,
I did get some faint stuff even with 10 min subs.
It has been more interesting between captures reading Fred
and Mike sparring :)
The night wasn't a total loss:D
