Howdy Folks,

I've just had a thought which I'd like to run past you all.....

....Is there a way to use a collapsable truss-style reflector both in Dob form for visual and on an EQ6 for imaging? This would be based purely on weight (ie, would a 12" collapsable truss weigh approximately the same as an 8" solid tube??)

Just a thought guys, I need something to stimulate my brain as work is not doing a good job of that!!!!

Cheers,

Ben

There was a more recent thread on this; Astronut posted a picture of someones 10 or 12" lightbridge on an EQ to show it *can* be done, but didnt indicate how it performed.
I suspect if it worked great there would be many more examples around.

Hmmm, thanks all, I might search a bit deeper. My train of thought was along the lines of open truss RCOS scopes on EQ mounts, which I believe are heavier than s standard Newtonian if I'm not mistaken?

Got to the link below, and in there near the bottom of the page where there's photos of the SW 12" FlexDob mounted on a NEQ6 - but like the owner said, works well if no breeze/wind!
