Hi Guys,
Whats your favourite planetary ep ? It would interesting to hear your thoughts and experiences. Looking at getting a ep that would squeeze out the last bit of mag on my 14'' f4.6 Dob.
Cheers Alex.

In my case, my favorite is a Vixen LVW 13mm - very comfortable to look through for extended times, and the field is a nice size. Closely followed by the 8mm if the seeing permits.
Raw focal length - not ultra short eyepieces - is the way to go for lunar & planetary - I use an f/15 Mak...

I hope it is going to be my fairly recently acquired used Burgess/TMB Planetary 5mm, but I don't know as yet!

For my refractor its my Takahashi 5 or 9mm GSO Plossl!
For my dob its my 13mm Nagler (barlowed if seeing permits).

For me 13mm LVW or 8mm LVW from Vixen. If a great night the 5mmLVW but not too often can you use it.

In the TSA 102 it is the 5mm Nagler t6. In the 6" and 90mm achromats it is a 12mm UO HD ortho. In the TV60 it is the 3-6mm Nagler zoom.

Hi Alex,
If cost is not an issue it would by very hard to find anything better than a 7mm Pentax XW for that scope. In terms of both outstanding quality of views and viewing comfort for extended periods. IMO it is a better eyepiece than the 7mm Nagler T6, 8mm Vixen LVW and the 8mm TV Radian which are all very good eyepieces and a little less expensive.
Cheers,
John B
