Has anyone seen the new Telescopes front page on the Andrews site?
I quote:

Mr Jim Sheng and Mr Lee Andrews have agreed on an exclusive distribution in the Australian marketplace by Andrews Communications for Guan Sheng Optical's new 16" Truss-tube Dobsonian and 100mm and 125mm f/8 Refractor telescopes. Dealer enquiries welcome

Steve it was mentioned in the Meade truss dob thread.
Still this is announcement worthy of its own thread as many have waited for this news

Thanks Houghy.

I noticed that there are no pics or prices or dates for the 3 new exclusive scopes on the andrews site. Maybe waiting for us turkeys to say things like "I'd pay $2800 for a scope like that"

Let's trick them, We can say things like "I wouldn't pay more than $2200 for a 16" truss-dob scope like that!"

The customer is always right ;)

I wonder what the actual cost of making and geting it over here is. But i am sure that will be well guarded secret. Also I think that the Johnsonian Popup design is far better for portability, but its also quiet expensive. But the cost could be reduced by manufacturing it say china or taiwan. I am surprised that this is not being done yet. I know from reading the Johnsonian site that they too will be selling GS mirrors with there pop up kit.

Regards.

Yes, Ken, $2200 would sound about right. We were told it's going to be "little over $2000"... After chasing galaxies all night last night, I do want a bigger scope. :D For around $2000 I'd buy a ready-made 16", but if it's closer to $3000, roll-me-own would be the go.

What are you saying, no more that $1500 :) not $2200 we want a bargain to don=minate the market (and also to afford a argo narvis)
