I have just purchased a W.O. Type 2 Field flattener/Reducer for my SW ED80.I was lent one recently and it seemed to work well in conjunction with my Canon 20D... However, with mine I now have a vinetted line across the bottom of the image. After comparing some of my old images I realised this line has always been there just no where near as pronounced.

With the flattener I expected to see vinetting in each of the courners not just the top left and right with the bottom chopped off.

I tried turning the camera over to see if the line would move to the top in case the mirror was getting in the way, but the vinetting stayed at the bottom.

Has anyone else experienced this.. Maybe I've had this all along with this scope and the Flattener just highlighted the problem.

Any help appreciated ... Thanks Geoff

All DSLR's have this. It is a shadow of your mirror. That is why it is at the bottom.

I guess Bert has explained it, but wouldn't flats solve this for you? You need a lightbox :)

It's next on my list. Long list. Ongoing list.

@avandonk - I crack up every time I see your avatar. Love it.

Thanks Bert,

That makes sense now.

Troy,
I have heard that flats fixes this problem, now off to build a light box :)

Many thanks Geoff

Yep the lightbox does the trick Geoff. I had the same issue, the flats cleared it right up. :thumbsup. As well as the corner vignetting
