I did 5 years of Japanese at high school. Sound it out phonetically and you'll get it - raba-gurippu-bando - they often use Japanese syllables to make English sounding words[1]. Rubber-grip-band. ;)
[1] eg there's no Japanese traditional word for hamburger, so they say hambaaga. Motorbike is ootobai (ok, so they dropped the "m"). Sandwich is sandoichi and so on.
