Astro-Tech 2" flattener

I'm starting a new thread for this thing.

I got one the other day and it seems work well with the ED127. VERY quick and dirty test last night looks promising. Look near the bottom of this page (http://deepspaceplace.com/ed127.php). (my web site is in a state of flux at the moment - please excuse the typos and bad formatting)

I hope to try it out with a 8" GSO RC soon ;)

That flattener comes up well. Once the tilt is sorted it should be great.

I would be interested to know the barrel diameter of the unit that you have.

I don't have a device to measure it perfectly, but I can tell you it fitted in my William Optics 72FD guidescope, it fitted in a GSO 2" extension tube, it fitted in my ED127, it fitted in a GSO 2" diagonal and it fitted in my Mak-Newt so I am happy with it.

I'm not sure why that guy had such problems.

All the other stuff he described about the paper, the single cap etc was the same for me.

I'd love to see how it stacks up against the telescope service flattener. Does anyone have one??

I would be interested to see how this flattener works on the Megrez 72.
Have you imaged through your M72 yet?

For the WO Megrez 72 FD, I recommend the WO FF 2.
I don't think the Astro-Tech is 'strong' enough to flatten the Megrez (it has a LOT of curvature, lot more than the ED127)
I'll take some test images of both and post them when I get a chance...
