BTW The lower centre column is 8" steel tubing. Weighs a bit, but solid as a rock.

yeah Peter, looks like its portable ;)

It actually is. The pier breaks down into 4 pieces. The head packs into one case, as does the 8" OTA. Each piece is quite managable.

Does this mean the clutch is fixed?
Nice rig !

No...still being changed...upgrading to a F355 clutch, the bits are still in transit :(

Quello sarebbe molto costoso!

I wouldve thought the standard G11 field tripod would be ample?. (It was rock solid with a 12" SCT on it)

costerà di meno ! :)

What the heck is a G-15 ??? :)

I've always been of the opinion you can never have too much mount.

i believe you, only that it would take a while to erect the mechano set ;), though it would be well worth it

Tch!
Shouldn't it be Corsa Rosso with itty-bitty Cromadoro mags and PZeros!;)

Suppose I could get a Scuderia badge for it... :P

...tubi exhausts, new ECU chip....when does it end! ? :)

Nice setup, is that a custom made pier? I like the design of this pier. The G-11 tripod is great and can hold a significan amount of weight but the legs sometimes get in your way.

Looks the goods Peter...

Definitely says something about the GSO 8" RC if you're ditching the FSQ as your road scope for the RC! Or is that just personal focal length preference more than anything else?

Looking forward to seeing some images from the setup!

:) It would be a mistake to assume I'm ditching the FSQ!

The RC offers a very comfortable 1600mm, and is light enough to use a side by side plate.

All I need now is a camera! :(

No. Commercially available...but you might have to wait until the next edition of AS&T on where to obtain the same ;)

I like the look of this setup. It will be great for just taking out to darks sites and getting some nice data. I gather the ST will mate easily with it? Are you going to use a flattener or just crop the images Peter?

Are you planning on going to any star parties soon? Or is it just on those weekends or nights when you want to drive out to a site?

Haha... Yes.. Silly me.. Who would ditch an FSQ :)

I vote STL-6303 for the RC... field should be fairly flat across the chip, its fairly sensitive and 6.3mp... why am i telling you this.. Of all people.. Im sure you're aware of the pro's and cons :) haha

I wanted a 6303 for my RC...
