looking at bringing the heqpro5 up to astrofest this year, but i then realised that the tripod legs are fixed in relation to the adjusting post that sticks up on the base. does this mean that the weights will hit the leg when adjusted to lat 26S etc? Will i need extension pilars to make it miss?

David, can you not relocate the peg to the other side of the flange?
Is there not another threaded hole?
You can on the EQ6.
It should be between the two legs to prevent toppling over.

Adrian there is not another hole for the relocation - that is the difference between mount tripods

No worries David. I'm happily using my HEQ5Pro with standard counterweights at this latitude.

(also works fine with a 20cm extension recently acquired)
