Can anyone tell me the difference between the EQ6 Pro that has been around for a couple of years, and what appears to be a new model, the NEQ6 Pro, as advertised on the Bintel site? I can't find the NEQ6 on the Skywatcher website, is it an actual new model or is Bintel just calling it something different?

Cheers,
Jason.

I've seen the EQ6 & NEQ6...they look the same ...apart from the "NEQ6" badge.;)

They still have the vixen dovetail but I did hear that the stepper encoder system has been improved.

Which probably means they found cheaper parts!

The myastroshop website is saying that the NEQ6 has a wider dovetail than the EQ6, to allow for heftier scopes.

Cheers,
Jason.

it still takes vixen dovetails, however the vixen dovetail saddle on the mount is wider (read: Longer) so that the clamping force on the dovetail is spread over more length.. That way a larger scope is held more securely. Personally I'd still change the head out for an ADM D-plate saddle if I was going to use anything over 8" in aperture, or heavier than 8kgs.

A nice spin on a selling point of the mount isn't it.

Bintel sells a replacement dovetail head (https://www.bintelshop.com.au/Product.aspx?ID=8443) for the HEQ6 that takes the wider Losmandy dovetails for $59.

I believe this Bintel part is actually an Orion product (which means that probably Synta manufactured it for Orion) - see here: http://www.telescope.com/control/product/~category_id=mount_accessories/~pcategory=mount_accessories/~product_id=07951 (http://www.telescope.com/control/product/%7Ecategory_id=mount_accessories/%7Epcategory=mount_accessories/%7Eproduct_id=07951)

I think you'll find that orion will not sell to us directly, they want you to use a local distributor.
Does anyone else make a losmandy clamp for the top of an eq6 apart from adm?

Robin, if you're looking at getting one, the ADM one is flawless.. I had one on my EQ6 and it increased the stability of the setup heaps when using a heavier scope...

OR - you could use some of the stuff that starstuff.com.au produces locally!! http://starstuff.com.au/eq6hu.html, superb service and nice person to deal with too :)

even when you factor in shipping... The ADM product is still $50AUD cheaper..
