I use one regularly with open nights and beginner astronomy classes. Don't have a holder though, I just hold it agains the OTA and point it in the direction. Newbies using their new scopes beside me can easily see and follow the beam. Its a great teaching tool. Might have to make a holder though. It'd make life a lot easier.

BTW: great new word, but did you check with mojo that his name isn't copyright - mojority

I wouldn't mind making one myself.

Andrews has the 5mw for $99 I think. (out of my price range unfortunately)

Ive made a bracket for mine but trying to figure out a switching mechanism is the tricky bit.

Howie Gatter also has a similar solution, including a switch Mechinism at

I fattened up my green laser with plastic pipe so I could fit it into the ETX's finderbracket. I now have an Autostar enabled green laser (with momentary switch added) which points out everything invisible to the ETX but which allows me to follow the green beam with my (or someone else's) dob. Nifty. Can make you quite popular at star parties.

Off limits, of course, if anyone wants to do some imaging...

We do the same with our LX-90!
Except it is hand held on the finder, we are going to get a seperate laser mount for the LX-90 so we can still use the finder.
The good thing about having the laser mounted on the LX-90 is its up above head height, making it much safer to use.

If you were to buy one, would you be better off getting a 5, 10 or what mw type?

it seems that the article/review is based on the 5mw.. so i guess it'd only get better with a 10mw. seriously considering bypassing the rigel and going for one of these.
