Hi guys.

I have all the bits and bobs from bobs knobs (say that 3 times when your drunk, heh) I have them installed but I don’t know where the springs are to replace the. I know they are under the primary but is it a big deal to change them over. I guess I should get these done before I collimate or I’ll have to re-collimate.

Thanks

If you losen off your primary screws and look into the primary cell you should be able to see the springs around each primary screw. Just take ONE screw out, pull out the spring, then reverse the procedure with the new spring and screw, then move onto the next spring. DON'T remove all springs at one time or its a real %^^$@# to get it all back together.

You will have to collimate after this procedure :) that is for sure!!

Here is the base of my 12"LB before I put the Astronomy Shoppe knobs on it.
This will show you where the springs are mounted.

A bit off thread(!), but why does GSO place the fan socket beside the collimation screw? Add Bob's Knobs, and it's annoying plugging the fan in. :mad2: I'm thinking of moving the socket!

Ah, that brings back memories. You're absolutely right - I had to give the knob of Bob a quarter twist to plug the fan in.

interesting - my GSO fan socket is nowhere near the collimation knobs.

I just did that.....and failed on the first try

Hmmm. It might just be on the 12". I cannot recall a problem on my 8", but it has the original GSO collimating screws - which work fine, don't need Bob's help there.

I have bob's nobs installed on my scope, but the fan socket is positioned halfway between the collimation knob and the mirror lock knob. I have no problems accessing it at all.

quite intriguing, so the 8 and 10" models have the socket positioned nicely away from the knobs, but the 12" has it bunged up right next to the collimation knob?

Do the LB knobs fit on GSO scopes? I'm a bit confused here. :-/

Yes I had a GSO 10" now Sab's:whistle: I used Bobs knobs for a LB10" to suit. All fitted straight on. Hope that helps.

Wouldn';t the larger Bobs knobs foul up on the Argo Navis gismo that is mounted on the top of the white floor? (the one with the toothed belt) With my 12" LB with original supply springs and screws, doesn't seem to be too much clearance there. I have never had trouble with it going out of collimation - apart from one journey over gravel roads - then the whole lot fell out:D:mad2:
