Hi, I note form an earlier thread that you often need to drill holes to take the GSO 10:1 Crayford focuser.

Are there any manufacturers out there that actually make a direct replacement 10:1 Crayford that will fit my SkyWatcher 10" dob without needing to drill any holes?

I know that Moonlite's need some tweaking to fit my scope as Scorpius had to mod his scope to fit it.

I've looked at specs for 10:1 Crayfords from Long Perng, and Williams Optics, but have no idea if they fit directly sans le drill.

Cheers
Pete

Hi Pete, The 10" Skywatcher/Saxon dobs are different to the 8" Skywatcher/Saxons.
I have modified both and this is how I did my 10"
Though I'm not sure if you can buy an adapter plate

Hi Daniel
Thanks for the link to your article, as it gives me some ideas about what is possible. I don't mind having to drill holes if I have to.:P

Another idea I had was to replace one of the focusing wheels with a larger diameter wheel. I won't have 10:1 precision, but this would transform my current crayford focuser into a crude fine tune system.:D
Cheers
