Hi guys,

I have a TouCam Pro II modified for long exposures, but my laptop doesn't have a parallel port. Will this item from ebay do the trick? Anyone use anything like this?

Cheers.

I expect it would, I was going to buy a similar item for my ToUCam until I stopped using it. The ones to not get are the ones with the printer plug on the end, as opposed to the 25 pins like this has. This one looks fine to me. I haven't tried it myself though.

Great price.

Roger.

Great. Thanks Roger. I might buy it then, if no one has any objections.

Hey DJV,

If you haven't ordered it already have a look at these threads:

It might be worth spending a bit of time on the search function on IIS to see if anyone has used the device you plan to use. I've been caught with a USB parallel adapter that wouldn't work with the ToUcam / K3ccdtools. But I know the PCMCIA card I bought works!

If you have other uses for it and are prepared to take the risk, go for it, otherwise, try to find one that someone can confirm works.;)

Hmm..Thanks Al. I might just be safe and get the pcmcia card instead.

Will this work fine?

Hmmm, I don't know... ask the vendor if it will definitely appear as an LPT port on your computer. I did that with the one I ordered from the US before I bought it. Good luck. If all else fails, try the link to the one I bought if it's still active - at least we know it works!:)

Transdigital PCMCIA parallel port card definitely works with Windows XP. No drivers needed just plug it in and it appears in device window as parallel port. It is bit expensive at 110$US.

I've been using one for the last few years. 100% performance!
The difference is that it's 100% bi-directional, and works!!
The Ebay specials; the majority are NOT bi-directional. Check them out before you buy.
