Hi,
I was just given the use of a Celestron 8" GoTo SCT. My problem is that I have never had a telescope this complicated and it did not come with a manual. It is also approximately 4 years old so is no longer on the Celestron web site.

Visually it looks very similar to the current 'CPC 800 GPS (XLT). The major difference being that the U shaped mount does not have any handles and the electronics are sparser with only a 12VDC inlet, a drive inlet and an electric focuser inlet. The only numbers I have found are on the underside of the mount and they are '850130'.

Any help to identify this model and to direct me to a down loadable manual will be greatly appreciated.

Regrettably they are all for new scopes and mine is apparently 4 or so years old. I think the basic how to operate it will be the same but the electrics are very different.

Hi

If you get onto the SCT_Users Group, the owner had a project going where he was collecting all available SCT Manuals and was placing them online.

Been a while since I was a member but he did, at that time have a large number already available in the Group Archives.

Cheers

Once i get accepted as a member i will check the archives. Turns out my new scope is a little older than I thought it is a Celestron Powerstar III circa 1988. Should be fun to get it up and running.

Maybe this one then, note there are two manuals in this one. The second one is for a Powerstar.

Or this one, note this is for multiple scopes first page lists which ones. Powerstar 4 is mentioned.

Thank you all for the help. i now have a manual on my hard drive. First major problem is solved. It came with an equally old but massive Meade mount and wedge and the mounting holes did line up so I am in the process of having a mounting plate made. The electronics still seem ok, at least when I plugged them in no smoke came out and all the lights lit up. There may be a problem finding the precise battery for the Polaris 8x50 siting scope but even without the battery it will still work. the primary is still brilliant though the outside glass is not quite so pristine but before I attempt to clean it i thought I would see how the views are. All in all things are progressing nicely and once I have the mounting plate and some clear skies I will see how things look. Thanks again for your help.
