Just a thought....(old topic I know)

I guess that I would need a licence to own a laser collimator too now?

As this is the definition:
Laser pointers
Hand-held battery-operated articles that are designed or adapted to emit a laser beam with an accessible emission limit of greater than 1 mW.

Which would include my collimator :(

If the power exceeds 1mW...yes, but I doubt the laser in a collimator would put out that much. I had a look at mine, but it doesn't say how much power. I think they all use the regular handheld laser pointers, which are around 0.5mW or so. In this case, you wouldn't need a license.

The Siicker on mine says its <5Mw so I gues its out.

Does anyone know how the ASV application for exemption is going?

I had better hide mine then, I use it all the time, but it is bracket mounted on the scope.

Received ASV newsletter, exemption has not been granted by Vic Police. So I am going to get a licence myself in order to avoid being fined $26K.
