No but I want something.. i'm thinking of just buying some red perspex plastic and sticking some velcro pads on both the plastic and the laptop screen (around the edges), so I can just velcro it on when needed.

Nothing worse than a bright laptop screen ruining the night vision. For imaging it's not too much of a concern but it'd still be nice to have.

Where do I get red perspex plastic from?

thats a good idea Ice , hmm not sure where you could get some red polycarb plastic... i wonder if a clear red chopping board would work or maybe finding a cheap plastic box and cutting two pieces from it and adding red cellophane in between ?....ill keep my eyes open.

LOL Houston we have a problem!

hey guys, I just drape a huge sheet of red cellophane over my screen doubled over and hanging off the side. It usually stays on. except when the wind comes along...

In the Meade Auto star, you can set the program to night vision and then open to full page, this works quite well, have you tried this Stuart?

Guy's I have been useing red perspex plastic for over 1 year.
I find this works very well and I'm happy with it.:D

Sits in the box then when I use the laptop with my scope i just tab it around the corners at the top with a bit of tape done.:)

Does not rip and I haven't broken it yet, if I do its not expensive. It cost me $10. Got it cut on a band saw.
Hope this helps.

Best.

Mike,
I got my perspex from perspex plastics in seaford Victoria.
Bit far for you!!:confuse2:
Should be a plastic dealer up there. Try a plastic supplier to the printing industry.

Good luck as the red perspex works best.

Best.

Mike:

there is a guy in Castle Hill who had a quarter sheet of red perspex some time ago that he was willing to sell for $30

I forgot the name of the business but he is on Victoria Road in Castle Hill

Maybe if you like I can see if he still has that sheet -I wouldnt mind getting hold of some perspex myself for my laptop

will have to be after the holidays I'd imagine ...dont think he is the sort of business that would be working over the next couple of weeks

Sounds good seeker, if you can hunt him down that'd be great, and I can split it with you.. I'm sure you're a bit closer to him than me :)

And yeh i don't think it'll happen in the next 2 weeks, but that's ok as I'll be on holidays too and not near my telescope or laptop.
