Hi All,

I have the possibility of obtaining a used ToUcam for a reasonable price, but I know nothing about them. However, I have done a search in the IIS Forums for ToUcam, and have come up with 500 posts, more than I can read through. I have noticed though that in general, it is either the PCVC 740, or 840 Mk 2, that is used. I'm told that the one in which I am interested is the 820K. Doing a search on 820 brings up nothing, so does that mean that it would be unsuitable, or is it possibly a typo made by the present owner?

Any comments would be much appreciated.

regards,

Mike

Not the expert but the 820 is a CMOS version, dont think its suitable for Astronomy.
See this link for some information.

You will also need an adapter to enable you to modify the camera to attach to a telescope. The most famous ones are made by a guy in Australia.

You will also need a Baader or Astronomik IR or IR/UV Cut filter.

Now I belive there are adapters sold on Ebay that have the filter built in.

Thanks Fahim for that info. I had seen the ntlworld web page before, but couldn't find it when I looked today.

Yep, 820 is useless for Astro work. The '840k Pro II' or the 'SPC900NC' are the ones you need.

As others have said, the 900nc is the best of the ToUcam bunch.
