after 2 years of enjoying my telrad the plastic battery connection has snapped and its now useless,ill buy another BUT should i buy a red dot finder or stick to what ive allways known rrrrrr ?

Why not just solder it back on?
I'm sure there would be an easy way to fix it.:shrug:

no pictures,all i can say is that the plastic terminal for the + has snapped off in the dark tonight,if i can locate it- maybe a a fix is poss/querie still on a red dot finder?

I think a telrad is better than the red dot finder.. simply because you get the concentric circles. Yes it's bulkier and not as pretty, but it's more functional imo. You can also get star charts with telrad circles to make finding things easier.

But yes, a bit of soldering and she'll be right again.

Take the unit (including the battery) to your local electronics shop, TV repair place, radio hobbyist or who ever and I am sure that they will have it up and glowing in no time, Mike is correct in saying that Telrads are not pretty but they do out-perform red dot finders hand over fist. Greg.

Stick with the Telrad, it's all I use.
I accidentally dropped mine and snapped the base, but I used a bit of hot glue and fixed it.
I can't do without it.

Surely there's a way to fix it.
If you can show us some pix we may be able to help.

all done , i went to jaycar at brookvale and got a new battery compartment for 75 cents with wires attached. atronomy online next door was closed so straight home,stripped some wires walla a new telrad , i even took it outside to calibrate it with venus, so all is well all is swell-regards
