Can anyone tell me what shop sells the black cover that goes around the lightbright to stop stray light from getting in.
Thanks
Phil

Not sure that anyone carries them in Oz, but Astrozap is purported to make the best shrouds for lightbridges, I think they are about ~$100Au shipped

Hi Phil,
I would be getting the missus or one of her friends to make one up.

I emailed Astrozap a week or so ago to ask about this, and they said they were still in the process of designing them.

Phil,

Try Astro-Opticals at Crows Nest in Sydney. I recall seeing them stock Astrozap products on there Website. :)

On my 12" LB, I have used one of those camping mats (the foam ones about 6mm thick) and have glued two long ribbons onto it. Then just wrap it around the truss. Doesn't look too elegant, but works well:D :D On your 16 inch one you might have to glue two mats together or get a large double one.

I've read somewhere just recently that black velvet is the best as it has poor reflective quality and will absorb any dew. Know anyone with a sewing machine?
Just a thought.

Absorb dew or light Duncan? Not sure you'd want your shroud getting soaking wet from dew:shrug:

Supposed to absorb stray light. On the question about dew i suppose you could spray it with a waterproof agent. Doesn't matter what you use it will get dew on it i guess. Especially in the tropics. At the moment up my way the scope is dripping wet by 8.00pm. Got to take a towel out with me.
I need an observatory badly.LOL
Getting back on subject, it was only a suggestion. Perhaps they don't have this problem in some places.
Cheers,
Duncan

Astrozap have shrouds for the 16" LB listed on their website so they may well be available now...
