I know this is not something that the purists will like, but for backyard astronomy and getting the public interested, this could be a game changer
I also like the fact that you may be able to get involved in citizen science

So nearly $2500 for a goto 4.5 inch Newtonian with a intergrated imx224 sensor camera :P interesting concept but so many cheaper options ie: nexstar 6 + zwo/qhy 224 camera +sharpcarp

The tripod looks supes flimsy at best. How do you control the exposure settings for different target? does it auto process the images beforehand? Why even bother with an eyepiece type viewing than? This seems like a gimmick made to make some quick cash

If it gets delivered. The article was late October 2017, and the KS was October-November 2017. So we're far too late to join in on that.

Reading the comments on the KS, the second prototype is still pending completion, and the KS organizer is currently hoping for delivery of the KS backers ones in May next year, before trying to go commercial. That after the initial planned delivery date of this month has slipped by.
So it would be late 2019 at the earliest, before the scope would likely be available online e-tail.
