This image is of NGC6744 which is an intermediate galaxy in Pavo. It apparently would appear very much like the Milky Way, so gives us an idea of what our galaxy looks like from a distance.

I had tough conditions for this (cloud and poor seeing) and have started this image several times over the last few years. Seeing was pretty average most nights and only a few nights produced slightly above average results. I was therefore forced to accept a lot of high FWHM data to even get a result. It also needs a lot more colour data too, it's a bit thin at 55 minutes each channel. It's now getting too low too quickly to collect anymore data. If I don't change anything on this system I'll try again next year and add more data.

Looks great to me Paul. Seems like your new scope is pretty well sorted out now.

Still looks good to me Paul. I've never had much luck with this one myself.

Looks seriously good despite the weather.

Beautifully processed.

Fine image. I like the colour balance, and, considering the (all too familiar!) conditions it's very good <3 hour's worth:thumbsup:

That's a very well done 6744 Paul. Love the yellow core. Stars look fabulous as well. You've got a nice solidity there as this galaxy, being dim, often looks quite thin in substance.

You've got the stars looking good in the corners so the scope is nicely dialled in now eh?

Greg.

Verrry nice! So it looks similar to ours plus it has a companion like our LMC. too.

Thanks guys for the comments. The commissioning of the RC12 was quite a few months back but I would like to tweak the collimation. I think it might be just a bit out.

Thanks Glen, Greg and Peter. Please note this is taken with the RC. Details under the image on my website. The AG12 is still not sorted, but I am awaiting the arrival of a screw threaded adapter which sort the problems with that scope.

Very nice, Paul. Hard to believe that's only 3 hours of RGB total!
