I have been practicing startools so I don't have to set up and go outside:).

I think I was out for too long last time out...the thought of putting the new camera on the eight inch I keep putting off until I feel better...just to tired to manage anything to be honest.

But this image was thru the 80mm usual old 30 second captures at 1600 iso about 100 from last year but it was so crook I never processed it but ran it thru startools last night or the night before for a pleasant surprise.

There is stillnoise there but it was so bad before..no darks.

Anyways getting to understand what startools will do.

Nice one Alex. Sounds like you need an observatory. ;)

Looks great Alex lots of detail and good colour
I’m still fiddling with Startools as well, the trouble is I have limited data to work with at the moment.Trying to capture some more data but all the good DSO’s are in and around the moons transit so everything is washed out and it’s worse when your in a dark site like I am at the moment down the coast (its like daylight between 9.00pm and 12.00 down here)
I’ll keep learning Startools, it has so much to offer and easy to navigate for newbies like me

I have my cube and tbe eight inch is on the mount but there is a long list of little things to do ...so its more a case of going out and working on stuff for a couple of frustating hours...I am worried about introducing the old mount to the new laptop and finding out I may need a new mount☺

I just had to get a break hence the processing journey☺😅

Hi Martin
The reason I posted this was to encourage folk starting with startools like myself.
I found it slow and it never really seemed to do much .. at first.
And I have been going yhru old stuff and using them for practice.
But maybe working on a small set of data over and over.
I mentioned it somewhere but that dodge tool in GIMP used sparingly is very handy.

Thank you Gavin.
I am looking forward to Orion wuth the zwo.
It will be a challenge but I have taken so many of it years ago I would like to do a really nice one.

And M31.
With the 80mm it should be a nice one for me.

Wonderful picture Alex, I've yet to try my hand at any DSS pictures yet. Still getting my head round planetary stuff & getting fine focus right.

Keep em coming please, great to see what can be done with multiple short exposure images.

Thanks Carlton
If you are doing planetary you may use registax its similar approach to DSS.
if you can manage planets deep sky will be easy for you.
