Saturn 14th sept

For a change i stuck a Baader UHC filter on tonight to see if i could squeeze some detail out of the disc.

Quite chuffed with this seeing as its a 24 second, 562 frame video from an iphone.
Stacked in Autostakkert and processed with registax wavelets.
Hope you like any tips or advice most welcome.

That's an excellent image! I can't seem to get any detail in the planets lately. Don't know it it's atmospherics or me.

A very impressive afocally produced shot with just a mobile phone, Tony. It's amazing what you can achieve with the technology we have available in our hands today. You're certainly improving your results with every opportunity you take to get out there and have a go. You are now learning to extract some colour from your data which was lacking in your previous posts of Saturn. Keep up the good work and continue showing us what can be done with basic equipment at hand. Well done! :thumbsup:

I agree you are getting some great images that show very clear improvements.
Seeing helps a lot with the results, and at least in Canberra there was some nice periods last night.

To make you feel even more chuffed (if that is even possible), yesterday I did a couple of quick manual unguided images on the CFF140 frac (mostly being used for visual...visually Saturn looked great!) but they obviously are not nearly in the same league as yours. Saturn, in addition, suffers because I did not notice when I transferred the camera from the Mak (where it was being used for old fashioned guided go-to images on Jupiters moon transits and for Mars) that the barlow had not transferred with it and so the images had to be heavily cropped to be viewable at all!). So I deem your work is now well beyond casual efforts!

The weather was quite good in Perth last night Kevin and the jet stream has calmed down for the next few days.

Yes Michael the software is superb these days, even in the few years i have been away from the hobby.
PIPP is a blessing for anyone without a motorised mount and has a video where the object is wandering all over the place:thumbsup:

Those images you got are excellent too Ross mate, i'm not even going to try with either of my refractors :) I still regard my efforts as casual though mate, i am definitely on a long and steady learning curve ;)
