Spent Saturday working on an image of B312, a dark Nebula in Sagittarius.
After questions a while back on saturation on stars, especially in clusters, I am having too much fun pushing saturation in order to get the differences in star colour out though in this case its about emphasising the dark nebula against the backdrop of stars.
Again, plenty of Ha in the image.

Looks great David. Love the little red/orange stars peppering the field everywhere. Great resolution and spot on focus.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Deja-vu strikes!

It's a somewhat neglected field so it's good to see it front & centre again.

Reckon if you were to add a touch of Ha it would be even better, but it's looking great now too :)

Well done!

Cheers Andy. Could be a clutch of Milky Way shots coming up..depends what I can frame up this weekend. It’s a really interesting area.

Thanks Marc. I picked up a PDF recently which helps a lot. The other one wasn’t coping with the weight of the STL too well.

Aah...didn’t see that. Was looking at the hulking monster shape which someone from here did previously.

Thanks again. Tempted to go back in and use the colour mask again. I want to know what’s behind the dark nebula as there’s Ha peeking out from there.

Thanks Pete. Good to see you back here and imaging, am with Marc on swapping data!

There is good stuff here...but it sadly looks a little soft and muddy. (yep...I'm not in a PC mood :) )

Ask yourself: what do stars really look like? (sorry... a rhetorical question)

Perhaps: points of searing light?

Just a few tweaks and you'll take it to the next level...so much here is sooo good.

Now then..I see what’s happening here. I am convolving the brighter stars because of artifacts at the cores from the deblooming process. That is what’s muting those pesky bright points of light including introducing grey stars.. I just stepped back through the PI history and it’s pretty clear what happened.

Will need to figure out another way to fix those cores (like shorter exposures..) but thanks very much for the nudge.
