Ngc 6164/5

NGC 6164 was created by a rare, hot, luminous O-type star, some 40 times as massive as the Sun, the central star is about 3 to 4 million years old. In another three to four million years the massive star will end its life in a supernova explosion. Spanning around 4 light-years, the nebula itself has a bipolar symmetry. NGC 6164 has been found to have an extensive, faint halo, expanding into the surrounding interstellar medium, the material in the halo is likely from an earlier active phase of the O star.

Still blown away by that RC6. I assume this is a crop? Well framed and great detail. The OIII shell as well.

How long have you had the ASI1600 mono?

Its a cropped image around 40% cropped.

I have had the mono camera for a few months now, had it since late may, early june.

The OIII was the hardest to get right. If I combined the LUM filter. The faint shell would have disappeared.

Trying to get the faint outer OIII shell was difficult to get as I'm limited to around 10min on my mount. I really don't want to push the gain to high as it will introduce more noise.
