A collection of data taken over several nights.

4 different gain settings in sets of about 30 subs.

Each set processed separately using the exact same procedure.

Then combined the resulting 4 images.

Anyway, I think I've pushed the OSC as far as I can.

Time to go narrow??

That is a very good capture Peter.
As you may know I have the narrow setup now and although I cant do much with what I have captured what really has taken me aback is the greater detail or at least that is what it seems.
I am still too early in to produce a final image and still sorting stuff out.
If you do my best tip is rather mundane but take time to lay out all cables and Velcro them in their spots with a mind to making set up easy ...also I have yet to do it and ignored the advice on this but lable each end of each lead...I did not like the idea of a lable maker but a colour coding would be handy ..Like I found myself there last night trying to remebr which lead went to the camera and which to the focuser and from what I have worked out you are best putting usbs etc back in the slots they are used to.
I sorted out star tools this morning, I lost the licence so gave up using it cause I could not save but the new licence came in this morning so I am going to try it before I go to pixinsite if ever...
The whole thing was more demanding and time consuming than I thought but it is all working reasonable well now...although I seem to have lost most of my stuff from last night...must have a good look if I can make the time today...
I have yet to work out the power consumption but I hope to put a meter on the power lead from the house that I am using cause one battery seems sad but you need I suspect a decent current for the cooler...the usb hub the lappy mobile phone charger etc must add up ...it would not surprise me to go 5 amps at 12vlts... so say 6 hours out there you could use 30 amps..and for me that is a 150 amp hour battery..anyways if you go narrow band just ask as I am now am expert:D

Thanks Tony and yes Alex, 150Ahrs deep cycle is a good start.

I will send a picture of my cable loom and general setup, maybe in the equipment forum.

That's quite good, Peter. Push the colour a little more and it would look great.

Thanks Rick

Tried upping the saturation.
More detail seemed to appear and also the red?

But it does look better...

Really nice Peter. Great detail. Maybe push the colour saturation as mentioned , not just the red (or maybe it's my phone screen color) - you using PI?

Thanks Wes.

Chris...using photoshop for the colour balance etc.
I could spend hours making it look any colour of the rainbow :-)

It would be easy to spend longer playing with the processing than it took to get the data!!

Anyway I gave it one last go with your advice.

Taa muchly.

That's often the case! Take a look at other photos of it, there is more detail hiding in that glow (which can be reduced) and colour in the galaxy structure to bring forward. Still a good pic but not yet the limit of what OSC can do. The capture is the easy part, so is getting "a picture" but the stunners are the ones where time has been taken to really push the data, not just push a button.
