After a week of rain, a clear still night here in Perth.

Tried a flip mirror tonight, really liked the ease of lining up an object in the eyepiece then flipping over to camera. The extension also gave me a slightly larger image (setup pictured).

SW Mak180
ASI 120MC
FireCapture
Registax6

Celeron 8i in background will be for sale soon (just awaiting a red dot finder before I list).

Cheers,

Justin

Fair crack of the whip, nicely done!
Saturn turned out really well.
Mars is as good as any given the circumstances.

That's more than a fair effort from a 7 inch scope, nice detail in Saturn and Mars is also showing some structure beneath the ( clearing?) dust. The flip mirror adapter is a really nice idea. Can you set it up that when you get focus through the eyepiece, the camera image will also be focused or do you still have to use the computer screen to focus your image?

Thanks a lot Michael, I didnt even think of that, so now I am going to have to setup again tonight to find that out. Haha

I dont think they are par focal actually, but I wasnt paying much attention, as it was just for centering the planet, then gently flip, and presto mid screen. I smiled every time, as previously I would be removing eyepieces and hoping I didnt move anything in the process. If it is par focal, that will be a real bonus.

I have to say, last night was arguably best seeing I have had in past few months... virtually no wobble, and Cassini division was clear on screen. Pitty Mars has decided to pull up the covers this season.

Cheers,

Justin
