The 800mm f8 ed lense at 1 min. 400 ASA Three shots stacked in Adobe PS Not much colour so maybe a longer exposure. Any thing more than 400 does not look good but perhaps just have to go to stacking lots at 800.

Good start, but don't stop at 800, 1600 is eminently usable with the low
ambient temps at this time of year. Many people, including me use 1600 year round. I gather you didn't use any darks, if so, enable the camera's noise
reduction function, assuming that you didn't already do so.
There looks to be plenty of colour to me.

Thanks. I let the camera subtract a dark from each shot . However if I am going to try many more longer shots I suppose I will have to use separate dark frames and process. I use a PS raw luminance smoothing after a work flow I read about which works to reduce visible noise but no in camera noise reduction as I was warned against it in the same article but I forget why. Loosing faint stars and detail? I should give it a try. Now maybe if I upgrade the Ks2 and bought that full frame camera ...

I don't know anything about the Ks2, but the Canons I have/had don't
have the dark function in isolation, only as part of noise reduction.
It is a good idea[ with Canons anyway] to put noise reduction on standard,
not strong, as strong can affect image quality.
F/8 is very slow, so you will have to increase sub length and ISO to obtain
worthwhile results.
