Apologies for adding to the plethora of dragons crossing your desktop screens of late but I guess it is that time of year :). Ha and SII data for this image was collected last year and has been waiting patiently on my hard drive for the addition of OIII. Now that we have the OIII we have assembled it in Pixinsight for this narrow band image.

I do like the assortment of shapes and objects that one can find in images of this area. Not only can we spot a fighting dragon lunging from the right hand side of the screen, it is being confronted by a wild dog in the centre of the image. At the back of the wild dog is a cat trying to run away from all of the excitement. Looking at the top left hand corner of the image there is a large bat with unfolded wings peering down at the action from above. The bat is trying to peer through the bright cluster NGC6193 to see what is going on.

Image data assembled using the Hubble SHO palette. Full details are on the Astrobin site.

Comments and critique welcome.

btw: I promise not to post any more dragons for the foreseeable future :D

You could put that on a metal print and it is like a slap in the face with colour and vibrance

Rodney that's remarkable. You must be delighted with such a superb result.

The dust details are particularly fine, as is the handling of the faintest threads of OIII.

Best wishes,
MnT

Very nice image and beautiful colors!

Can't we get this with a cheap achro scope or it must be done with an expensive APO scope?

Thanks for the kind comments everyone. A good question you ask Tareq regarding the use of a APO scope. It goes to the question of what advantage does a good APO scope bring? I am thinking two main things being flatness of field and less chromatic aberrations.

Lovely image. Well done I must have looked at that scene hundreds of times and never thought of the dog, the cat and the bat, but you're right. I can see then clearly now.
