Last night I wanted to fiddle with squaring off my camera a little and figured that as I'd never imaged the Lobster before I may as well give it a shot. I set up about 7 hours of imaging, it was clear when I went to bed and clear when I got up (albeit with a LOT of moisture in the air).

I captured 33x Ha, 25x OIII & SII.
I ended up with 9x Ha and 12x OIII. The rest of was totally clouded out :(

In trying to teach myself to become better at this whole processing thing, sometimes it is good to learn on not so good data. So I've pushed my Young data scant Lobster as far as I can.

A very pleasing image Colin. Good detail and tight stars.

Hey Colin, this is a fascinating target and not an easy one to process.
From memory it needs as much data as you can throw at it, and it's looking good so far!

Thanks Greg. I've still got some on-axis astigmatism that I'm working with Officina Stellare to remove. Going to have to email them again to see how they're going on their end with advice.

Thanks Marc :)

Your assessment pretty much says what Suavi's image does, it needs a lot of integration time for the fine details and contrast. Not just 45 minutes of misty imaging

Very nice rendition Colin - especially given the limited integration time.

A nice result Colin - great to see your fast baby performing so well. I am looking forward to the final version

Limited integration is always a limiting factor but it can be fun trying to process every little ounce you can out of the limited set.

Not even close to what you're little 100mm baby has done ;)

HI Colin
it is a nice image but it looks a bit out of focus and the HA needs a tone down
it is not a easy image to take that is the way you learn trial and error.

Its a good start Colin, and makes me feel good about my last 2 red images 😁.

I reckon you will have a crisp rich beautiful image with a bit more data
