Hi Everyone,

I saw these new 2" EPs on the Orion site. http://www.telescope.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemID=259505&itemType=PRODUCT&iMainCat=6&iSubCat=36&iProductID=259505

They are called Q70 and give 70 degree views. They are being listed quite a bit cheaper than the stratus equivelent.

Does anybody know anything more about these EPs? I'm keen to know what they might be like in my f5 Dob.

cheers,

Dave.

At a guess probably not very good.

There are lots of new widefield EPs coming out in the low-to-mid price range that are promising/hoped to be good performers in fast scopes. Celestron has new super and ultrawides, Baader added 2" superwides to their Hyperion lineup, and there are a whole bunch of different ones under the Saxon banner (should have arrived in Oz or about to) ... just to name some of them.

Erik Wilcox from Cloudy Nights bought one that is much the same. He did a review on it here ----> http://www.cloudynights.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/1357962/page/0/view/collapsed/sb/5/o/all/fpart/1/vc/1 :D

Astromart.com has a very favorable review.

Sounds interesting, though the Cloudy Nights review did include the following line:

"in my f/4.5 dob with a paracorr, here's what i found"

I suspect the paracorr may have helped "clean up" the image re aberations, etc, in the fast scope can someone with more knowledge confirm or deny that?
