Anyone know where to purchase centre/spotting drill bits in Australia short of off eBay? Tired of small drill bits walking on precision spaced jobs.

What's wrong with ebay? These guys (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/7-PC-HSS-Center-Drill-Bits-M2-High-Speed-Steel-HRC-62-1-1-6-2-2-5-3-15-4-5mm/321898364971?hash=item4af2a3402b:g: W40AAOSwl9BWJgJ2) are in Melbourne, btw... it is a real shop.

Also, you may try this one (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Automatic-Auto-Center-Centre-Punch-Spring-Loaded-Professional-New/302597245868?epid=22012835270&hash=item4674338bac:g:E7gAAOSweehan RB5), as less accurate, but still better-than-nothing alternative.

Already use an auto-punch Bojan.

Off to eBay I guess. Amazon has some good prices too as does AliExpress

Centre popping the spot, and a small locator drill hole should surfice.
Excess pressure will cause the drill bit to wander and inefficient clamping will cause the same.
Slow and steady is the key for larger drill bits.
Blackwoods in SAust. should be able to help you out with the drill bits your asking for.

If the drill wanders I glue a washer to make sure it wont go off the center...that is not appropriate in all situations but the approach has helped me out on occassion.

Hare and Forbes - I think they've got shops in every major city.
https://www.machineryhouse.com.au/

One trick I use in the drill press when cross-drilling round bar is to pinch a stanley blade or similar flat thing between the job and the bit so it sits exactly flat. Then When I bring the press down it won't wander off.
