Took a single RGB sequence of mars at the end of a early morning Jupiter session. I'm happy with the result but admittedly I don't know any of the features I'm looking at. I did look on winjupos ephemerides but it didn't look right. the UT time was 18:09.

Wow - very nice! Especially considering it's not that big yet.

Hazarding a guess that the craters at the bottom right are possibly mamers valles with syrtis major on the limb?

Others with far more knowledge than I will correct me I'm sure.

Nice shot Leigh, especially as this side of Mars doesn't have the most contrast-y (that's a word, right :lol:) features. Vallis Marineris is setting on the right-hand side - the little darker patch right of centre. You're looking almost straight down on the Tharsis volcanoes, but they'd be hard to pick up without bright clouds or anything else to highlight them at their noon. The darker stuff at the bottom is probably between about Mare Sirenium and Solis Lacus. Looking forward to it getting bigger!

With the ut at capture the ut is an hour off at the moment with FireCapture and SharpCap! Not sure if this has anything to do with daylight savings time?
My laptop has the correct time but shows +10 instead of +11.
I think that's right, in any case 18:09 is 4:09 am at the moment and try adjusting the WinJupos time by an hour and see how that looks.

Troy, I'm a little confused - 18:09 UT is 5:09am AEDT just now? I'm fairly sure my Firecapture has applied the correct 11hr adjustments to my images, not sure what's happened with yours if it's only doing 10? You have me wanting to check my recent captures in case I've screwed up all my times and CM longitudes :eyepop:

I assumed that if the times were off, when you go to do image measurements in winjupos it would show up clearly when the moons are in the shot. if you're an hour out, the moons will be way off the mark when doing ims. see attatched pic.

Yeah that's right, if you out by an hour it would be obvious with that moon alignment.
