Hi everyone, I’m Shane from Goulburn. Many years ago I owned a 10” LX200R, but when I bought my first home in Sydney I found the block of land wholly unsuited to astronomy, so sadly we parted company.
Fast forward a few years and now I’m in slightly darker Goulburn and have recently bought a GSO 12” dob. I must say it’s a bit different to an automated telescope but the combination of good planetarium software and a Telrad have allowed me to find things I wouldn’t have thought possible.
I also indulged myself and bought my first Televue eyepiece, a 10mm Delos. I can certainly see what all the fuss is about! Just sensational.
Anyway, looking forward to engaging with my fellow dob pushers and I’ll be keeping my eye out for a reasonably close star party.

Welcome back, and if it is within your budget, you could get the
Argo Navis push to system, similar to Go To but you push it yourself.

Thanks! I had considered the Nexus DSC (not a fan of Argo Navis for my own reasons) but I’m finding that I enjoy navigating to and finding elusive DSO’s the old fashioned way.

Yes, I used to do that with an 80s 17.5" Coulter Dob; you sometimes find
interesting things.
